ACCOMMODATION

This year’s experience is going to take the shape of a “tour” through three locations in Picos de Europa. This means you will need to make separate accommodation bookings for each one of these three locations. Below are the dates and places where we will be based and our advised accommodation options based on location.

Please, be aware that some of these locations may only have a couple of choices available which, though it may seem inconvenient, is part of being somewhere this special and “off the beaten track”! Also, note that we are not a party or beneficiary of any bookings you may make and we have not had a chance to stay in all of these, so our recommendations are based on their location and our first impressions of visiting the place and speaking to the owners! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!

9th and 10th of June: Fuente Dé, Espinama, Pido

In the first two days of our event, we will have daytime activities based in the Fuente Dé and Espinama areas. You can stay either in Fuente Dé, Pido or Espinama. Hotels in Fuente Dé boast jaw-dropping views and each has its own restaurant and bar whereas Espinama (a few meters down from Pido) has a small supermarket, a couple of bars and restaurants and a few more accommodation options at cheaper prices.

You can either book directly with hotel/accommodation owners or use booking.com or airbnb, however, be aware that, usually, not all rooms available are allocated to 3rd parties (booking.com, airbnb), so you may get different availability and pricing if you contact establishments directly. Please, read below the accommodation type description as these are quite different from other international ratings.

Spanish Accommodation Types:

Hotel: Commercial, enterprise owned, “larger-scale Hotel"

Hostal: Small, privately owned hotel (usually family run)

Posada: Small, privately owned hotel (usually family run)

Albergue: Budget accommodation for travellers of various kinds, often offers beds in shared dorms as well as private rooms, usually offers shared communal facilities (sitting areas, kitchen or ½ and full board options)

Vivienda/Casa/Casa Rural: Self catering house/chalet

Apartmentos: Self catering apartments

Recommended options: we have marked with “*” our preferred option in the area for members to stay together

11th and 12th of June: Puertos de Áliva, Espinama

For the 3rd and 4th night, we are basing our program around one of the most wonderful and remote hotels you will ever find! Hotel Áliva is located high up the mountain, at over 1,800m altitude, emerging in the middle of remote mountain trails and only accessible by 4x4 routes** or walking.

Hotel Áliva was originally inaugurated in 1930 as a mountain refuge but has since been bought out and run by Cantur, the same commercial enterprise that runs the Teleférico de Fuente Dé. However, due to its locations and characteristics, it still keeps the same “refuge” feel and characteristics, having only been connected to the grid in 2021!

Unfortunately, all rooms in Hotel Áliva are currently taken so the other option is to stay in Espinama for the 3rd and 4th nights (that is the night of the 11th and 12th of June). The commute between Espinama and Hotel Áliva can be made by a beautiful mountain track, roughly 7kms long and it takes about 15mins by car or about 1h30 walking up and 1h walking down. You can drive your own car as long as it is not a lowered vehicle, you can team up with other members staying in Espinama and driving up/down, we can organise extra car runs if necessary, get a 4x4 taxi run offered by Hotel Aliba (to be confirmed times and conditions at a later date), walk or cycle. If you have any questions or concerns, please, reach out to us!

**It is possible to reach Hotel Áliva without a 4x4 car, provided it has decent ground clearance, coming from Espinama. However, the 4x4 track between Hotel Áliva and Sotres is only recommended to appropriate all terrain vehicles.

13th of June: Potes

On the last day and night of our trip, we will be based in....Potes!

To make sure we go out with A BANG! with our now "traditional" Grand Finale night in a local venue, whilst also getting closer to airports and exit routes for those fleeing early on Saturday, our last day will see us partying day and night in this quaint, touristic village. There are lots of different alternative accommodation options in Potes. As long as you are within walking distance to the village centre (google maps will help you), the location will be suitable. Our day time venue will be a 10-15 min walk north-east from the village centre and our night time venue will be at the centre (the tower). There are also a couple of accommodation options in Ojedo which, as long as they are next to the main road and closer to the border with Potes, may also be suitable. Lastly, if you are driving, you can stay anywhere you prefer but you will need to be responsible for your own transport. If you have questions - ask us!

Below are some of the options currently available:

Hotel Infantado (book directly on their website)

Hosteria Peña Sagra

Hosteria Sierra del Oso

Maile Apartamentos

Casa Raymonde

Casa Caio

Hotel Arha Potes & Spa

Hosteria La Antigua
