TRAVEL

You are fully responsible for organising and booking your travel. Below, we have compiled information we find relevant, however, note this is based in our own experience and opinion and it is not legally binding in any way, neither are we responsible for any issues you may encounter.

Airplane

FLIGHTS

Andorra is served by two main airports: Barcelona El Prat (Spain) and Toulouse (France). Both these airports have regular flights from various airports in the UK
and we've picked one of the cheapest times of the year to travel. We advise to book in early in order to get the best prices before most people start booking their ski holidays!

You can only enter Andorra by road so, after arrival to Toulouse or Barcelona airports, you can chose between renting a car and driving yourself or getting a direct bus transfer with the company Andbus.

FROM AIRPORT TO ANDORRA BY BUS

Andbus runs regular services roughly every two hours and the journey is a direct service between Toulouse and Barcelona airports and Andorra La Vella, which takes about 3h (the BCN service has 1 stop in Diagonal). A return ticket has a fixed cost of 56€ or you can get a single for 33€. Note that after your purchase, you can always change both the outbound and inbound dates and times of your trip at no extra cost so you are not tied to an early decision or in trouble because of a delayed flight or early arrival.

To be taken to Arinsal, you need to chose the “Arinsal Address” destination option on the drop down menu when you book your ticket or you can call Andbus any time after you purchased the ticket and add the  extra “leg” to your trip for a cost of about 10€ each way. The same applies to be picked up from Arinsal for your return. If you chose this option, on the day of your travel, the driver will give you specific instructions at the start of your trip. Alternatively, you can also get off at the bus station in Andorra La Vella and get a taxi (there is a stand outside or you can ask at the Andbus reception), which will turn out to be cheaper if you are with other people (around 20€ per taxi run).

Andbus is our recommended option as it is not only the quickest, but also the most comfortable option with air con, mood-lighting, comfortable leather reclining seats, free
WiFi on board, USB charging ports and absolutely lovely drivers!

For Pickup Points and to confirm any the above information, see the Andbus website below.

FROM AIRPORT TO ANDORRA BY RENTAL CAR

Driving yourself from both Toulouse and Barcelona takes about 3h – it is only about 200kms but there are almost no motorways, although the roads and views are beautiful!
If you chose to rent a car, make sure to let the rental company know you will be crossing the border to Andorra so they include it in the insurance – otherwise, you will not be covered. Also, you need to hire snow chains as an optional with your vehicle as it is mandatory to have at least one pair available in your car to circulate in Andorra during this time of the year. Police run regular checks – particularly in tourist cars – and you will be fined if you are found not having a set of snow chains available for use or specific snow tires mounted (which rental cars usually don't). Be particularly careful driving if the roads are snowy or icy!

BORDER OF ANDORRA

Whichever way you travel, keep in mind Andorra is not Schengen space so, if you want to “save your tourist allowance” you can stop or ask the bus driver to stop at the border to get your passport stamped. Note that passports are not usually checked at entry or exit of Andorra by either country, so you need to ask your bus driver to stop for you to get a stamp when you board your bus or make sure you stop at the border point if you are driving. At the border, there is a reception office where you can walk into in order to get your stamps. If you have any issues or questions please check the FAQ section HERE for a resolution. If you cannot find your answer there, feel free to contact us.
