SKIING

Arinsal.jpg

Andorra is made up of 4 main ski areas. Arinsal is a small cul de sac village connected by a gondola and chairlift to its ski slopes. The Arinsal sector is located in a beautiful, Mountainous valley. It’s great for all levels of ability with easy slopes for beginners, red and black slopes for the more advanced and a great snow park for those who are feeling adventurous. On its longest run, you can even take a short hike up after the last button lift and ski down from the highest peak, La Capa, all the way to the village. Arinsal is also linked to the Pal sector, one of the most beautiful sectors in Andorra! It is great for tree runs and boasts many more slopes providing a total of 63km to choose from. The Arinsal and Pal sectors together make up the Vallnord domain which will be the home to our experience and where we will make the most out of everything the resort has to offer!

The other resorts in Andorra are accessible via bus and include:

Ordino Arcalis - Famed for its incredible big mountain off-piste, where the freeride world tour is based each year and the best snow around. It is the least busy ski area in Andorra and very popular with the local riders. It boasts 30.5km of skiable runs with an additional 3.4km of marked freeride runs and an extra 120 that are unmarked. You can access Ordino Arcalis by a hop-on/hop-off free ski bus without booking from Arinsal, Erts or La Massana. Note schedules are limited and this beautiful drive takes about 40mins from Arinsal.

Grandvalira – This area is by far the biggest in the Pyrenees and one of the largest in Europe. The ski domain comprises of 7 linked sectors and has a skiable domain of 210km with 128 runs to choose from. During the season this area has hosted skiing world cups, freestyle events and you can find a wide range of snow-based activities. You can access Grandvalira by taxi (25-40€) or by paid public bus with an exchange in Andorra La Vella: take the L5 bus from Arinsal to Andorra la vella and you’ll then need the L2 bus which takes around 30mins to get to Encamp (the start of Grandvalira) or the L4 which will take you to Pas De La Casa (the end of Grandvalira on the French Border).

With over 303km of skiable area in Andorra plus all the off piste and 3 snowparks, there is certainly something for everyone.

Ski passes can be bought separately for Pal & Arinsal, Arcalis and Grandvalira or, alternatively, you can buy a “whole of Andorra pass” covering everything. However, keep in mind that the Mountain Bass experience will be based in Pal & Arinsal. Ski passes can be purchased online in advance for a slight discount or, you can buy them whilst you are here if you prefer to be spontaneous, it’s up to you!
